What is a Fly By Radio?
Fly By Radio is the reason I can finally record music at home, drive a dependable truck, build a website, and pay bills. Fly By Radio, from here forward known as FBR, is my vehicle for making ends meet through playing live music and entertaining good people like yourself. But more than anything else, FBR is a good time. FBR has a long tradition of being a fun evening out.
The group is headed by Wes Goode, aka Rigid Steel. He is the boss and he is a wonderful human being. Rigid Steel, we will use his stage name since this is how his fanbase knows him best, helped me out when I needed work. Rigid took a chance on me and I am forever grateful for it. If you are reading this and enjoying the music being peddled here, you can thank Mr. Steel because without him I’d still be recording song ideas on my phone never to see the light of day.
The other members of FBR are Caitlin, Number 2 (named so because he is the shit!!), Tim, & Jeff. Other regulars include Tony Edwards, Matt Wood, Kevin Canada, Matt Slocum, AK, Bri Keaney, Alvin King, Herb, Stephen and a few more good people. Number 2 is actually named so because he is also a Wes and also a fine human with great taste in whiskey and cigars. These people are not just good entertainers and hard workers, they are amazing people. Well, Most of them. Some are kinda, well,… anyway. (Insert rimshot here. thanks Tim)
Speaking of Tim, Mr. Stanton is the reason I was introduced to Rigid Steel as an option for becoming a member of FBR. I would say I am indebted to him for it be he owes me big time so this almost makes us even. (rimshot!) No, for real, Tim and I go back 25+ years. We’ve been in many bands together. I am grateful to be in another with him. He and I have literally traveled the world together three times and criss-crossed the continental US countless times. Here is too many more trips around the world and around the sun.
I am so grateful to these FBR folks. They have allowed me to become a part of their band family and their real families. They have become my family. We work hard and play well together. For that I am overjoyed and amazed at their generosity. Thanks, y’all.
